Louise’s Recovery Story
Dizziness, Nausea, Headache, and Parkinson’s
In the fall of 2011, Louise began experiencing dizziness, poor balance, nausea, and an increasing frequency of headaches. All of these were progressing at an alarming rate. I did a complete neuological examination and was left with a few concerns. Afterall, people are entitled to having more than one “thing” going on. Becasue of my multiple concerns and the fast progression and severity of symptoms, I sent Louise in for an MRI right away. Thankfully the MR was clear!
She has been a very compliant patient and so together we have managed to work through her major symptoms of dizziness, nausea, and headache. She is able to ride in a car again without feeling sick and wiped out. She is not running into walls while walking around her house. She is doing really well.
She continues to do daily neuro-specific exercises at home in order to keep her brain functioning optimally. Given a family history of Parkinson’s Disease (PD) and some of her neurological exam findings, it is likely that we did catch her in the very early stages of PD. While there is no cure for PD, we can do much to help slow down the progressive declines in function that happen with PD.
